I really like this post by Viola. It's simple and makes a point from his own experience. It is experience which shapes us the most. I'm doing a lot of reading and reflecting these days. So I'm posting some other material as sort of a seed-bed before I launch into some of my own thoughts on "church" exclusiveness. I have eyes full of planks so I'm really resisting my own thoughts for now, until I feel the Lord has more fully formed them and more completely healed me from years of being so judgmental.

Thx. Ill take a look at that Hudson Taylor book. Description looks really good, esp. was known for his sensitivity to Chinese culture and zeal for evangelism. He adopted wearing native Chinese clothing even though this was rare among missionaries of that time. Gotta love a guy like that! Yes, Forgotten God is great so far!

Oh, now this is cool. Nathan just came in and asked me what I was reading. So I read him the story about the Amish community and their crazy love. He just looked at me in wonder... as I paused to let that sink in. Then (because the boys have been playing super heroes a lot lately) God gave me this to say to him: Nathan, do you see how Jesus and the Holy Spirit are the only real super heroes, and their power is the power of love? He whispered back... yes. I see that... We talked a little more about it. Thank you God. That was such a sweet gift!

This is the most beautiful thing youve ever written in all the years Ive known you. But the thing that makes it more beautiful is the truth of it all. Its the most beautiful truth ever in the history of mankind -- that He who had no sin came to be sin for us, so that we could be seated with Him and the Father in the heavens. Ive always loved this picture, because it gives me a PURE reason to act and love God, and not to do things out of guilt, obligation, or because its what youre supposed to do. I lived too much of my life like that growing up, and I never want to live under that oppression again. Thank you for sharing your heart.
